Two-handed Backhand

Grip

  • Main hand (usually right) uses Eastern or Continental grip
  • Off-hand (usually left) uses Eastern forehand grip
  • Hands adjacent, not overlapping

Stance and Preparation

  • Stand sideways, left shoulder (for right-handed players) facing the incoming ball
  • Feet shoulder-width apart, weight slightly on back foot
  • Racket in front of body, arms naturally bent

Hitting Motion

  • Rotate body to bring racket back
  • Shift weight from back foot to front foot
  • Both hands apply force simultaneously, swing forward to hit
  • Contact point slightly in front and to the side of body

Follow-through

  • Continue swing towards target after contact
  • Racket face naturally closes, pointing to target
  • Complete body rotation, facing the net
