Preparatory training
We will explain the training methods for serving from the following aspects:
- Correct grip technique
- Stance and ball toss technique
- Serve motion breakdown (simplified)
First, we should understand what grip we are using. For players with a certain level of skill, most use the Continental grip, although it may feel unnatural at first.
If it feels awkward, you can also try the Eastern grip first. This method is easier to master, and you can gradually transition to the Continental grip later. This allows your wrist and fingers to adapt gradually. In the early stages, you don’t need to focus too much on the standard grip, but rather on feeling comfortable and in control when hitting the ball.
Regarding serving, we can do two small exercises to start the beginner stage of tennis.
Ball throwing:
Stand at the baseline and throw the ball towards the opposite baseline, trying to throw it as far as possible. In this process, try to use the power of your entire body.
